Chris Clavelli is an ensemble member and resident director of The Florida Repertory Theatre where he has directed and acted in over 40 productions. His direction of House of Blue Leaves at The Rep was honored with “The Best of 2017” by chief critic, Terry Teachout in The Wall Street Journal and he received a Best Director Award for his production of Time Stands Still at FRT. His direction earned him an Alan Schneider directing nomination through Theatre Communications Group and he co-founded The Neighborhood Theatre for Kids and Brave New World Theatre in Brooklyn. The former served over 3 thousand children a year. He has performed in over a hundred professional productions Off Broadway, regionally and on Film, TV, voice overs and commercials. He is a recipient of a Carbonell for Best Actor and a Barrymore Award. He performed his one man show: A Little More Than You Wanted to Spend in theatres across the country, including Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Ohio, Florida, and Off Broadway at The Drilling Company in NYC. Currently, he serves on the acting faculty for The Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University. He has taught acting, voice, classical acting skills, audition technique, acting in farce, solo performance and on-camera classes at New York University/CAP 21, Molloy College, The Actors Studio Drama School/Pace University/MFA program, American Musical and Dramatic Academy, The New World School of the Arts, The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, Florida Gulf Coast University, Long Island College, Queens College, and Marymount Manhattan. He is a graduate of Emerson College and The Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s Master of Fine Arts, Professional Actor Training Program. He is a proud Pittsburgher and continues to teach, coach, direct and act. Chris is a visual artist whose paintings adorn homes in Paris, New York, Denver and Florida. He is a cat lover and very good cook.
